There was an announcement by gaming articles and gaming websites that all Adult Swim games titles might soon be delisted by May probably from Steam and other online games stores. WB aka Warner Brothers are planning on getting rid of a ton of games. Some of the developers of the games in this list aren't even aware about this announcement. This saddens me because it's something that I've been worrying about in the past. I've always been a supporter of physical media in gamming, movies, shows, music and other types of content. I can understand the importance of digital media and gaming as well but we shouldn't put all of our trust in digital only content. The reason for that is because from what we've seen in the past with the closing of stores like the Wii store, Wii U online store, PSP aka PlayStation Portable online store, etc. Although, Sony did reverse their decision when they plan to close and shutdown the PS3 and PS Vita online stores. It's still possible to buy from the PS3 online store on the PSN and PS Vita. You need the console and handheld to buy the games though. I also think that you need to add funds using the website but I haven't checked in a while. I'll probably check it later on in the future because I'm planning on going through all of my PS3 games and livestream them all on my Twitch channel before uploading them on my YouTube Gaming channel. Let's get back to the delisting of games online. This is a negative and bad thing for the gaming industry because that removes power and control from consumers and gamers like us. The companies and corporations have all the control and say when it comes to decisions. They can easily close these online stores tomorrow and there is nothing that we can do about it. On the other hand, if you buy a physical media games like discs, cartridges, SD cards and other gaming media that you can hold with your hands not hindered by DRM and online requirements like internet access just to be able to play the games. That's not a good thing. A lot of gamers and people right now are leaning in support of digital gaming and media but like I said we shouldn't put all of our trust on just that. We shouldn't put all of our eggs in one basket meaning that it's smart to diversify and put multiple eggs in multiple baskets. That means that if one online gaming store shuts down, we still have our other online stores and physical games and media. One online gaming store that I support is GOG aka Good Old Games because they support DRM free games and you can download the games and save them on any physical media like blank discs, HDDs, SSDs and other external storages without needing internet. Of course, you'll need internet to download these games first from GOG but once you get the games they're yours to keep. That's another good thing similar to physical media because at least you own the games without having or needing DRM, online sign ups, patches, downloads and other requirements needing internet. I don't support this idea but again it's up to you to decide what direction in the future you want for gaming and media whether it's a digital only future where the companies and corporations have all the power. You're basically just borrowing their stuff and you don't really own your games, music and movies. As the saying goes, "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy." Is that really the future that you want? If that's the case then you might as well hand over all that you own as well because owning digital games and content doesn't guarantee that you own these games. Even if physical media rots and eventually stops working at least you own those things and you can get them repaired by an electronics repair expert or professional.
