The XBox 360 Store Marketplace Is Closing On July 29, 2024 After 19 Years!

A lot of XBox 360 gamers, users and fans must be feeling devastated after this announcement. Not too long ago, the XBox One era ended and the next gen consoles in the form of the XBox Series X which has a disc drive and the Series S which was digital only gaming released. I have always been a supporter of physical media whether it's gaming, music, movies, shows, data storage, etc. I love buying and getting physical discs, cartridges, SD cards, etc. I have always had a bad feeling when it comes to digital only games that you can't store in your own discs and hard drives. The reason for this is the shutting down of stores like XBox 360 marketplace. We've already lost the online Wii store, the Wii U store, the PSP store, etc. This makes me very unsure of owning digital games as something that I really own. I'm aware that when getting these games digitally we're just borrowing the license and once those stores shuts down we won't be able to download any digital games. That's also the same feeling of uncertainty that I have for online movies, music and any other online related media. Do we really own these things if they can disappear anytime once the online stores closes? How long until Steam is going the same way of these disappearing online stores? I'm glad online stores like GOG exist because you can download a game from that online store and store it on your own hard drive, disc or whatever storage that you use. You can play games that you downloaded from GOG without internet connection unlike other online digital stores. This site creates an offline installer and you can play the game offline on your Desktop PC or Laptop. In my case, I play this on my gaming pc and gaming laptop. For now, the PS3 store is still online as well as the PS Vita. We don't know how long that will last though. At the end of this month, the XBox 360 marketplace will close and any digital only games that are exclusive to the XBox will be gone forever. That makes me sad. I'm sure that others feel the same way that I feel about this. I hope that someday someone in the gaming industry with influence and power wakes up and realize the importance of physical gaming and media. Sadly, most of the companies in the gaming industry is going the digital only route.
