The internet goes crazy after Valve revealed their new portable console called the Steam Deck. Some say that it's a portable PC but most console and devices have computer components in them. That's really a very small simplification of a device. The Nintendo Switch is also a portable console that can be docked and output to the TV at home to get higher resolutions compared to the portable console itself which outputs to the handheld. If we look at the Steam Deck's specs it has a specific CPU, GPU and RAM that's prebuilt in. I don't know if it can be upgraded like a PC but if the RAM and storage SSD can be replace and ugpraded then it has some PC aspects into it. Personal computers or in my case a Gaming PC can have most of its parts replace if one part gets damaged, worn out or becomes faulty. I wouldn't call the Steam Deck a portable PC if all of its components are soldered into the circuit board and can't be replace. It's a portable console like the Nintendo Switch then. It would be interesting if you can at least also put in your own SD Card for additional memory. If the games install like how I download and install games using Steam on my PC and have at least decent frame rates and resolutions then I'll be impress. Also can the Steam Deck output to a Flat Screen monitor or TV like how the Switch gets docked? Until then I'll wait but at least Valve is trying something new with their Steam Deck. I'll give it a chance and I'll keep my eye on it. Meanwhile, I'll keep gaming on my MSI VR Ready GE62VR Apache Pro Gaming Laptop GTX 1060 i7-6700HQ. It still can game on 1080p at 60 frames per second with Steam and Epic Games Store installed on it so that's pretty impressive. What do you guys think of this new Steam Deck? I still love Nintendo and their Nintendo Switch but I wish they released the Steam Pro or whatever they call in the future. I'm not really satisfied with their new Nintendo Switch OLED model.
Here's Lord Gaben talking about the Steam Deck
Here's the Nintendo Switch OLED announcement. I was praying for the Switch Pro but this will do for now until we get the Super Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 or whatever Nintendo announce in the future.
