Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Continues the Monkey Business As A Sequel to The Rise of the Planet

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

This was a blog that I originally made back on January 28, 2014 at 8:35 AM.

Lately, I've been seeing too many monkeys all over the place. First, I saw the Monkey King trailers now this. I've seen the trailer for this movie a few weeks ago but didn't really get the chance to talk about it. I just wanna say that this movie has caught my attention once again. I remember seeing the first 1968 Planet of the Apes movie a few years back starring Charleton Heston, Roddy McDowall (I remember this old dude who played Peter Vincent in the movie Fright Night which is the 1985 version), Linda Harrison, etc. Let's fast forward to today and now we got Planet of the Apes remake back in 2001 directed by Tim Burton (known for directing films like the Batman movies with Michael Keaton, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, and other movies), the 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes starring James Franco (known for playing Harry Osborn in the 2002 Spider Man movie with Tobey Maquire, Alien in Spring Breakers, etc.), and now we got this Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which is a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I guess now we got Ceasar who is in command of the really hyper intelligent monkeys thanks to the 112 virus created by Will Rodman (James Franco) out to wage war with us humans. According to what I've read from info all over the place this sequel takes place 8 years after the first movie. Even after a peace treaty between the humans and apes some human survivors threaten the genetically evolve apes which will cause the war to determine Earth's dominant species. The last film was directed by Rupert Wyatt while this one is directed by Matt Reeves. After looking them up it seems that Matt Reeves is the one who directed Cloverfield and Let Me In (a horror movie starring Chloe Grace Moretz or Hit-Girl from the Kick-Ass movies). This will be interesting. We also have Gary Oldman (commissioner Gordon from the Dark Knight and Dracula from the Bram Stoker's Dracula) who appears to be leading the humans in this. We'll just have to wait and see if this film delivers. I like the Rise of the Planet of the Apes but with a different director this time and no James Franco we'll just have to wait and see what direction this movie will take. I wonder if more chaos and mayhem will happen that's cause by apes. Well, it looks like a post apocalyptic world in this one and lots of buildings and areas in ruins so yeah. If you haven't seen the other Planet of the Ape movies I think you should watch and check them out. They're pretty good. Check down below for the trailer and pics on this movie.
