I, Frankenstein Played By Aaron Eckhart Seems to be an Interesting New Take on The Classic Story

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

This was a blog that I originally made back on January 23, 2014 at 10:30 PM.

If you don't know Frankenstein by now then you either probably live under a rock or was too young to know about it. Well, first and foremost I wanna get this out of the way so that we can clear things up for newbies. Victor Frankenstein is the name of the scientist/doctor who gather up different parts from different dead people and assemble them to create the monster. The monster didn't have a name in the original but that's different in this new version. It's just called Frankenstein's monster. Now that we got that confusion out of the way let's get to the story of this new take on Frankenstein. Most people who don't know the story in detail of the classic story I'm gonna assume you think that the monster is Frankenstein and that's exactly what this movie is. It's always been thought of that way so might as well go along with it. The thing is that now that I've thought about it some more and did more research on this movie the name of the monster in this movie is Adam Frankenstein so that means that the scientist Victor Frankenstein must have treated him like a son I guess. So that makes Adam Frankenstein the monster as Viktor Frankenstein's creation and adopted son. Adam Frankenstein is the main character in this new movie. I, Frankenstein played by Aaron Eckhart (he's known for playing roles in movies like The Dark Knight as Two Face/Harvey Dent, Battle: Los Angeles, Olympus Has Fallen, Meet Bill, Towelhead, The Black Dahlia, etc.) I'm not very familiar with the other casts so sorry for that. If you know them then cool. Well, let's get back to the movie. This is the story summary basically according to what I've learned and looked up on the interwebs. 200 years after his shocking creation, Dr. Frankenstein's creature, Adam, still walks the earth. But when he finds himself in the middle of a war over the fate of humanity, Adam discovers that he holds the key that could destroy humankind. From the co-writer of the hit supernatural saga, UNDERWORLD, comes the action thriller I, FRANKENSTEIN, written for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie, screen story by Kevin Grevioux and Stuart Beattie, based on the Darkstorm Studios graphic novel "I, Frankenstein" created by Kevin Grevioux. Now that we saw that description it says that it takes place 200 years after his creation. This means that Adam Frankenstein is immortal I guess. We now have a war between what I'm guessing looks like demons and gargoyles and Adam Frankenstein is caught in the middle of this war. This movie rather than a horror flick looks more like an action movie since the people behind the Underworld saga are involve with it. I'm not gonna judge it just yet but maybe after seeing the movie that's when I'll critic it. If you wanna know more then check out the pics and video trailers below. The movie comes out on January 24, 2014 which is tomorrow.

The Frankenstein above is a very different take as we see Adam Frankenstein more of an anti-hero fighting off monsters and werewolves rather than being this feared monster by the people. I'm guessing that this comic version of I, Frankenstein is what the movie is based on that's why it's different than the one depicted on the classic black and white Frankenstein monster movie and the Frankenstein in the movie Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman. Interesting. Also Frankestein is the creator not the monster himself in the original.

You can compare in this pic the changes Frankenstein's monster have gone through in design and story just by looking at these pics. The classic and modern day comparison is very different.
