The PS3, PS Vita and PSP have been on a long journey. Soon it will be closing on July 2 this year and we will no longer be able to purchase any games afterwards. Any digital only exclusives will be gone forever! That really sucks for those of us who are game collectors. It's like trying to find that rare Pokemon only to fail at it in an epic manner. There are some people out there that don't really care about game preservation and tells others to just move on get a PS4 and PS5 for next gen. Unfortunately not everyone is fortunate enough to have loads of cash with them like some people so they are stuck with previous gen consoles even as far back as playing PS1, PS2, N64 and any other consoles that are easier to get for cheaper price. Game preservation to me is important because I also believe in film preservation. I like transferring some old videos from old VHS tapes and converting them into digital formats to be played on computers, DVD and Blu-ray players. I also love preserving old family photos scanning them and saving them on my hard drive and blank discs. Some physical mediums don't last forever and sadly I thought that maybe digital format and mediums is the next step in immortalizing these media whether they be video games, films, movies, music, old VHS tapes, vinyl, photographs, art, etc. To me video games are part of that media preservation that is why it is important. If they're not preserve they will forever be lose never to be found or seen again. I think that every video game and every form of media deserves a chance to be seen. If old black and white films get a chance on preservation to be transferred from film reels to Ultra HD 4K videos then video games also deserve that chance to be transferred onto the the next generation to be played and access through backwards compatible consoles and systems. Otherwise people will use emulation to preserve these video games! What are you guys thoughts on games being preserve or not? Do you guys care about the PS3, PS Vita and PSP online stores closing or it doesn't really affect you because you don't care to play on those systems anyway. Right now Nintendo and Sony are bad at video game preservation. At least Microsoft XBox Series X fans got it good because they care about backwards compatibility with their newer systems as far back as the first XBox when it comes to being able to play those games. Sadly if this is happening with the PS3 then this can also eventually happen to the PS4 as well!
