There's are a rumor that Microsoft is planning to buy Sony. That's not going to happen because that's like US trying to buy Russia. That ain't going to happen man! Not only that is a monopoly but corporations and companies that huge aren't going to disappear anytime soon. A brand or logo that massive in a global scale isn't possible for acquisition because it would eliminate competition and drive sales down. There are too many investors and stock owners on these companies that they're not gonna let that happen. If that were to ever happen then maybe McDonald's should purchase KFC and Wendy's should purchase Carl's Jr. The console wars will shift if this were to happen and they would close the companies. Imagine if Amazon purchase Ebay, Walmart, Target, Newegg, Etsy, Alibaba, etc. That's just not a good idea. The internet and the online market is just too massive. I could see a partnership and collaboration happen between Sony and Microsoft and maybe even Nintendo but not a full purchase or acquisition! What do you guys think? Do you support this kind of monopoly and money funneling into one singular corporation and entity? Hell Disney is already doing this kind of thing after its purchase of the Star Wars, Marvel franchise and 20th Century Fox. Imagine your beloved Sony games being shutdown or devs closing because Microsoft decides to purchase Sony! They'll have the power and ability to decide the fate of those IPs man! Think about it!
