Sony Is Planning To Change The Payment Method for PS3 Store and PS Vita Starting 27th October 2021

PlayStation and Sony Electronics have just made an update to their Payment methods concerning the PS3 consoles and PS Vita handhelds. Here's the link to the Playstation notice by Sony. https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/important-notice/ It seems that the payments like credit cards, debit cards and payment methods like PayPal as well. They said in the notice that you will only be able to add funds using the Playstation website, mobile device, computer, laptop, PS4 and PS5. You can no longer use PS3 and PS Vita. That is kinda weird but does that mean you will still be able to play the games on your PS3 consoles and PS Vita that you purchase using those methods. This is really pretty inconvenient but it's understandable. If only Sony had made PS1, PS2, PS3, PS Vita and PS4 games playable on the PS4 and PS5 in the first place then this wouldn't be such a big problem. I'm aware of Playstation Now but I think that physical disc games and cartridges are still important. Online stores closing is the reason that I still support physical media that isn't held hostage by online and DRM issues! Starting 27th October, 2021, you can no longer use a credit or debit card, or a payment method such as PayPal, to buy digital content or add funds to your wallet when visiting PlayStation™Store on your PS3™ console or PS Vita system. To buy digital content for your PS3 console or PS Vita system, you must first add sufficient funds to your wallet on PlayStation Store. You can add funds by redeeming a PlayStation Store gift card, using a credit or debit card, PayPal, or other available payment methods via a desktop computer, mobile device, a PS4 console or a PS5 console. How would this affect games that have an in-game store? Can I purchase DLC in an in-game store? You will still be able to purchase content (including DLC) via in-game stores, but you will need to use wallet funds to pay for the content on PlayStation Store. You will not be able to use a credit or debit card, or other payment methods such as PayPal to complete the purchase. Can I still use PlayStation Store gift cards on my PS3 console or PS Vita system? Yes, PlayStation Store gift cards can be used on both PS3 consoles and PS Vita systems. Product vouchers and subscription vouchers can also be used. Check below for the link and video on this.
