This was a blog that I originally made back on April 28, 2014 at 11:15 AM.

First, let's discuss the whole legend behind the ET Atari Cartridge Landfill. The year was 1983. Gaming was in its infancy before 3D gaming and everything was 8 bit with the bleeps and bloops. The technology wasn't as advance, complex, and sophisticated as the ones today. The Atari 2600 was the home console at the time along with other ones like Intellivision, Comodore, Coleco Vision, and so on. The movie E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial directed by Steven Spielberg was a box office hit! Atari wanted to ride the success of the movie by coming up with a video game base on the movie. The problem with this is that the game was developed by one person who is Howard Scott Warshaw. The game was also given only one month to be develop which isn't enough time and with one person to do it all then that's a recipe for disaster! The game has poor controls and didn't even look like the movie to add to that. Atari went with it and because gaming was already at a downward spiral at that time with sales way down and a lot of unsold games and consoles the ET Atari game pretty much put the nail in the coffin! This cause the video game crash of 1983! It was a massive recession of the video game industry that occurred between 1983 to 1985. The only reason the gaming industry was revived was because of Nintendo and the NES that kickstarted it back from the grave! According to the legend, Atari had millions of unsold copies of the Atari ET game and they decided to dump and bury all these copies along with other unsold Atari products in the landfill on the City of Alamogordo, New Mexico with the help of several trucks. Rumor has it that this was just a legend but then just a few days ago an excavation took place there with hundreds of gamers and also Microsoft involved they finally debunked the rumors. It was true after all! They find several copies of the infamous game and other gaming stuff which prove that the legend was true after all! If you ask me, I think we've unearthed something evil which will be unleashed upon the world if we don't return this to its burial site! O.O lmao The mayor of that area is also pretty interested in that whole deal and said that it could help introduce people there to help with tourism and the economy and all that. Check out below for some pics on the whole deal! Now, they should send those cursed cartridges into space, bury them in the moon, or even Mars! lol

Here's Microsoft's Major Nelson at the dig site holding an ET Atari cartridge! With this evil unleashed, it will be the end of all of us! NOOOOOOO!!! lmao
